Franklin Rodeo Press Credential Policy
The Franklin Rodeo welcomes professional press coverage of our events, both in advance and during the three performances. To maintain a balance between media presence and the enjoyment of our fans and vendors, the number of accredited media personnel at each event is limited. Media passes must be approved in advance and are subject to the following guidelines.
General Rules and PRCA Guidelines
- Media in the Arena: PRCA rules strictly prohibit media personnel from entering the arena. Only PRCA-approved and carded photographers are permitted to photograph from the arena floor.
- Photo Use: All photographs must explicitly describe the Franklin Rodeo and are not to be sold under any circumstances.
- Fan Consideration: Media must operate discreetly, respecting the experience of fans and vendors while taking photos or videos.
Requirements for Press Credentials
Applicants for press passes must meet the following criteria:
- Professional Status:
- Applicants must be paid professionals; amateur, casual, or fan-based media will not qualify.
- Blogs and personal websites will not be considered unless they represent a mass media outlet with physical distribution (e.g., newspapers, magazines, broadcast TV, or radio).
- Accessibility of Coverage:
- Websites applying for press credentials must ensure that their rodeo coverage is easily accessible to the public and not restricted to "members-only" or paywall-protected content.
- Relevance:
- Publications or websites must be pertinent to the event and subject to approval by the Franklin Rodeo.
- Timeliness and Professionalism:
- Articles and features about the Rodeo must be published in a timely manner.
- Freelancers and independent media must provide samples of prior work for consideration.
- Respect for Guests:
- Press members must ensure they are unobtrusive and professional during event coverage.
Application Process
- Submission Requirements:
- Applications must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the desired performance date.
- Only fully completed applications will be considered.
- Applications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis, with early submissions increasing the likelihood of approval.
- Approval Notification:
- Applicants will receive an email indicating their approval status. This email must be presented at Will Call to exchange for a press badge.
- Pass Collection:
- Approved press members must display both their press badge and their own press credentials while at the event.
- Passes are issued on a day-to-day basis, requiring multi-day approved applicants to collect a new pass for each day.
- Limitations:
- No walk-up applications will be accepted.
- Limited passes are available, and not all applicants may be approved.
Important Notes
- Photographer Restrictions: Only PRCA-accredited photographers may work from the arena floor.
- Editorial Standards: Media coverage of the Franklin Rodeo must represent the event in a positive and professional manner. Negative or inappropriate reporting may result in denial of future credentials.
- Content Usage: Photos and content created during the event may not be sold or used for commercial purposes beyond the approved media outlet's coverage.
