Noon Downtown Franklin – Rain or Shine

Please refer to the staging map and information at the bottom of the page. Once you submit your entry, our parade committee is notified that you have been added to the list of entries.

Nancy Scott will email you the parade entry form, parade information, and release of liability to fill out and email back to her.

Please see the Parade Route Map and Parade Day instructions below, including staging areas for each entry type. There will be a Parade Director at each staging area.

Parade Entrant Information (Parade Day)

Horse Entries

Staging area: Jim Warren Park, near the corner of Boyd Mill Ave and Highway 96 West. Rotary Parade Directors will be on site at the staging area.

  • Horses will line up on a first-come basis, in the order in which you arrive. Our Rotary Parade Directors will assist you with this on site, so please check in with him/her when you arrive.
  • Please only park your horse trailers in the designated PAVED areas. DO NOT park in the grass areas as they have sprinkler heads that might get damaged if driven over.
  • As you probably are aware the Parade begins at 12:00 Noon. Please be in place well in advance of start time, suggested by 11:00 am because traffic into the area starts to bog down after that.
  • Lineup will begin at 11:45 am. Give yourself plenty of time to prepare your horse as well.
  • Please make sure your parade entry number is written large on an 8×10 paper. Display it on the right side of your horse or horse drawn vehicle, so you can be announced on the town square by the MC. Your parade entry number would have been emailed to you prior to Parade Day.
  • What to do at the end of the Parade: The parade route will take you down West Main Street and turn right onto 11th Avenue North. From there turn left onto Boyd Mill Avenue, then right onto Culberson Blvd, then right onto Boyd Mill Avenue to New Hwy 96. This will drop you back at Jim Warren Park. Once back at the staging area you are free to depart.

Float / Car / Truck Entries

Staging area: Freedom Intermediate School off Hwy 96 West and Glass Ln.

  • Floats will line up on a first-come basis, in front of the school in two rows. Our Rotary Parade Directors will assist you with this on site, so please check in with him/her when you arrive.
  • You will join the parade off Glass Ln. and Hwy 96 W.
  • Please make sure your parade entry number is written large on an 8×10 paper. Display it on the right side (passenger side) of your vehicle, so you can be announced on the town square by the MC. Your parade entry number would have been emailed to you prior to Parade Day.
  • What to do at the end of the Parade: The parade route will take you down West Main Street and turn right onto 11th Avenue North. From there turn left onto Boyd Mill Avenue, then right onto Culberson Blvd, then right onto Boyd Mill Avenue to New Hwy 96 where you are free to depart.

Band and Dancer Entries

Staging area:  Johnson Elementary School off Glass Lane and 11th Ave

  • Bands and Dancers will line up on a first-come basis unless instructed otherwise by Nancy Scott, the Parade Director, or by the Rotary Parade Director on site at your staging area. Our Rotary Parade Directors will assist you with this on site, so please check in with him/her when you arrive.
  • You will join the parade off Glass Ln. and Hwy 96 W.
  • Please make sure your parade entry number is written large on an 8×10 paper. Display it on the right side of your entry, so you can be announced on the town square by the MC. Your parade entry number would have been emailed to you prior to Parade Day.
  • What to do at the end of the Parade: The parade route will take you down West Main Street and turn right onto 11th Avenue North. Continue straight on 11th and go across New Hwy 96 to Glass Lane and back to your staging area. Once back at the staging area you are free to depart.

Can we have people walk next to our float?
Yes, as long as they keep up

Can we hand things out along the way?
Yes, as long as it is not political in nature

How about candy?
Yes as long as it is not thrown from the float/vehicle. It MUST BE HANDED
OUT BY A WALKER, for the safety of the children. People line up to view the parade starting
around 5 th and Bridge Street, then up to the town square, around the square onto Main Street,
and down Main Street (both sides) until about 7 th Street. Please bring enough candy so you don’t
run out too soon.

Can we tow a trailer?
Yes

What time should we show up?

  • Suggested arrival times for Floats, Bands and Dancers is 11:00 am, Horses and Horse Drawn Vehicles is 10:00 am.
  • Working backwards: Parade starts at 12:00 noon, Staging Areas should be lined up ready to go at 11:45 am. Road closings around 11:40 am. Traffic snarls into Parade area and downtown Franklin before 11:00 am.

What do we do at the end of the parade?

  • Horses and Horse Drawn Vehicles: The parade route will take you down West Main Street and turn right onto 11th Avenue North. From there turn left onto Boyd Mill Avenue, then right onto Culberson Blvd, then right onto Boyd Mill Avenue to New Hwy 96. This will drop you back at Jim Warren Park. Once back at the staging area you are free to depart.
  • Floats: The parade route will take you down West Main Street and turn right onto 11th Avenue North. From there turn left onto Boyd Mill Avenue, then right onto Culberson Blvd, then right onto Boyd Mill Avenue to New Hwy 96 where you are free to depart.
  • Bands and Dancers: The parade route will take you down West Main Street and turn right onto 11th Avenue North. Continue straight on 11th and go across to New Hwy 96 and go across New Hwy 96 and up Glass Lane back to your staging area. Once back at the staging area you are free to depart.
