FRANKLIN, TENN. (May 5, 2010) – In an emergency meeting, the board of the Franklin Noon Rotary Club has voted to redirect funds that will be raised from this year's Franklin Rodeo to Williamson County flood victims.
Gavin Moon, president-elect of the Rotary Club, said, “We understand the hardships that people have gone through with the floods, and we want to help. A significant portion of the rodeo’s proceeds will go to benefit flood victims in our county.”
Funds raised by the rodeo usually go to scholarships and Williamson County charities. Over the past 60 years, the Rotary Club, through the rodeo, has raised $2 million for charity.
Persons wanting to help may also donate to the Franklin Noon Rotary Club Flood Relief Fund at all Pinnacle Bank Locations in Franklin.
The rodeo will be held May 13-15 at the Williamson County Ag Expo Center. It is the largest rodeo in the state, with nearly 400 cowboys and cowgirls competing.
